Teryn Jean O'Brien, M.A, LMHC-A

Teryn Jean O'Brien is a mental health counselor who has spent several years working with clients who have experienced PTSD, complex trauma, depression, anxiety, ADHD, chronic illness, unexplained somatic symptoms, grief, substance abuse, etc. She received her Master's in Holistic Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Salve Regina University. Teryn enjoys working with clients of all ages and any manner of symptoms or diagnoses. She's passionate about creating a co-collaborative experience where her clients feel empowered as counseling enfolds; her clients describe her as warm, friendly, and engaged. She's also passionate about being trauma-informed and loves to educate clients about how trauma might be impacting them — because many unexplainable or “treatment-resistant” symptoms can often come from unresolved trauma. â€‹

Teryn uses an eclectic approach to therapy, offering a variety of methodologies — including CBT, DBT, expressive arts, somatic/embodiment practices, and parts work. She’s particularly interested in the mind/body connection and helping clients integrate the body into their therapy. She incorporates creative/sensory modalities into the talk therapy process to guide her clients in utilizing and integrating their left and right brain hemispheres during treatment. Teryn is also a yoga teacher with 500 training hours who has taught over 1,000 yoga classes using accessible, trauma-informed, and therapeutic approaches.

No matter your symptoms or diagnosis, Teryn can guide you through the intricacies of learning to develop a sense of self-compassion and inner empowerment as you figure out how to adapt and learn news ways of operating within the world despite your current struggles.
